hi I believe that my grandfather Fred Makinson served on the northern gift, as a stoker and would like to find out more about the boat and crew. He was from Chorley and pre and post war was a crankshaft balancer working for Leyland Motors. He was also mad keen on football and was captain of the Leyland Motors team
