Lavender was a sloop, one of the numerous 'Flower' class of WW1, they were built on merchant ship lines to aid production. Originally intended to act as both minesweeper and patrol vessel, they saw widespread service, several of them were based at Queenstown.
She measured 1200 tons 262ft x 33ft armed 2 x 12pdr, 2 x 3 pdr. Built at Dumbarton by McMillan, launched 12 June 1915.
She did not survive the war, being torpedoed and sunk 4 may 1917 in the Channel by the submarine UC.75
