Growler probably had a 1942 modified bridge which included removal of the fairing plates around the periscope sheers and the after fairing section around the "cigarette deck" aft of the periscope sheers.
Check with the United States Naval institute for a Growler photo taken of her in 1942 and 1943. Match the photo's with the date of her collision with Hayasaki.
Growler II (SSG-577) a regulus missile boat is in New York as a museum submarine alongside the carrier Intrepid.
