HMS Phoenix - sunk July 1940

This website gives 16 July 1940 as the date of her sinking by Italian torpedo boat in the Mediterranean.

CWGC records give the date of death of Leading Signalman Eric Barnes (lost while serving in HMS Phoenix) as 21 July 1940.

Can anyone explain the difference of five days between these two dates for the same incident please?
