Hello John,

Bonte was asleep when his ship was torpedoed by HMS HARDY and was drowned. Fregatten Kapitän Erich Bey who was leader of the 4th Z-Flotilla (on WOLFGANG ZENKER) took over command. He survived the 2nd battle of Narvik, organised the German sailors in battalions and flew home on a flying boat on 27 April 1940. He was later killed in action while leading the SCHARNHORST in her last battle.
