USS REAPER

My father, Arthur Lewis Evans (deceased), was in the Royal Navy during the 2nd World War and towards the end of the War was seconded to the USS Reaper in the Atlantic travelling to Norway and collecting quislings was mentioned. My mother thought it was an Aircraft Carrier but information I have on the internet says it was a minesweeper. I am trying to find out more information concerning this. Can anyone help me as the Navy Pay & Pensions Office say a lot of records kept during the 2nd World War are very sparse and incomplete relating to this. I would appreciate any information anyone has concerning the USS Reaper(could be Reeper).
