7,728 tons (gross) built 1940
torpedoed and sunk 4 March 1943 by U-160 in the Indian Ocean in position 32.04S 31.05E whilst in convoy DN.21, on a voyage from New York to Aden and Alexandria via Durban with a cargo of government and commercial stores.
The Master, Captain James Howard Williams, with 33 members of the crew and 6 gunners were rescued by South African Air Force launch and landed at Durban. Four crew and one gunner lost.
