My father, Reg Oakley, was a sub-lieutenant on HMS Swiftsure when she went to Nagasaki. He died aged 52 of cancer of just about everything. I have no proof that his cancer was connected to them walking around Nagasaki in only their tropical whites but it seems likely. I have a tankard, chopsticks and a Kimono that I guess were souvenirs. I no longer have any photographs but believe that he was a gunnery officer who talked little about his experiences but once he did say he had been shooting at Kamakasi Pilots. I think also he had a lot to do with entertainments. I too wish I knew more. I was 3 in 1945.
