Hello,
As far as I know there was only one vessel with the name EL LAGO lost in WW2. Registered in Panama 4219 GRT. Lloyds War Losses and other sources, says she was sunk by a submarine on the 11th of October 1942, voyage Reykjayvik for New York 44N 40W. All crew presumed lost. Apparently the information as to the date and position was deduced by the Admiralty from a U-Boat survivors interrogation.
OK, no problem with that but when you look at the British archives catalogue you come up with this
[www.nationalarchives.gov.uk]
Is this an error or are we missing something?
regards
Roger
