Hi I just happened upon your discussion here. I was out taking my dog for a walk and passed through our local grave yard. I have often noticed an interesting grave comprised of an old rusty anchor with a plaque on it. I decided to Google it just out of curiosity.

It is the grave of Lt Cmdr Arthur Woodhouse-Ellis RN and he is buried at St Andrews in Hempstead in Essex. Hempstead is also famous as the birthplace of Dick Turpin and St Andrews has the family tomb of the Harvey's which includes the the remains of Sir Eliab Harvey the Captain of the Temaraire at the battle of Trafalger, so Arthur is in good company!

Sorry I don't know anything else other then he passed away on the 9th of Jan 1981 according to the plaque on his grave.

We have a local Historical Society in Hempstead and would love to find out more about Arthur and his life.

Regards
Rob Karsten
