The USS Batfish,a Baloa class sub builtin 1943,is in eternal patrol on the northcentral Oklahoma plains.The sub earned 9 battle stars and has the distinction of having sunk three Japanese subs.One can visit it at the Veterans memorial park in Muskogee Oklahoma . For a modest fee one can tour the sub. It was destined for Oklahoma City but the river turned shallow so they dug a ditch from the river to its' present patrol site,raised it up,drained the ditch and filled in under the sub.
