Good evening Selim
The possible vessel I had in mind was Clan Keith. My original interest in this vessel was that the Third Mate who was lost with her had sailed with me when he was a Cadet in 1956. I do not know her exact cargo, but I understand it was miscellaneous.
Clan Keith, 7129 tons, which, on Nov. 5, 1961, in a strong gale, hit the Ecueils des Sorelles Rocks, off Cap Bon, Tunisia, & broke in two. It would seem that the vessel exploded upon impact.
Best wishes
Phil
