The TNA:PRO (the ex-Public Records office) at Kew in London holds the Admiralty's remaining official records from WW2

If one goes to the on-line website and look at their index (called "The Catalogue") one may search for records ;

[www.nationalarchives.gov.uk]

I put in "rescue tug" into the search page with "ADM" in the department box, and got this (hopefully it will show up) ;

[www.nationalarchives.gov.uk]

Changing "rescue tug" to "rescue tugs" gives ;

[www.nationalarchives.gov.uk]

Here the file ADM 199/2165 looks the best bet for a (VERY) short history of the section (it will almost certainly be short as the file contains many otheritems.

Visiting the TNA:PRO is a bit of a trial for the first timer, but if one is interested in your subject and the travelling is not too bad then it can have its own fascination.
