I've heard this same story from another ex-member of HMS Beaumaris's crew who would have also been with your grandfather on this rescue mission. I've not been in touch with him for a year or so now so I hope he is still with us.

Please email me through my web site and I will give you his contact. I would also like to ask you a few questions if I may, about your grandfather's service with HMS Beaumaris Castle as I am researching her flotilla's war-time movements.
