I realize this was originally posted in 2019, but I was able to find through the US Navy muster rolls that were scanned by Ancestry.com that Jack Raymond Willis as assigned to Rasher in 1962 as a navigator at the ranks of LT. He was soon promoted to LCDR and made XO by 1963. They haven’t uploaded any more muster rolls past 1963, so I can’t tell you if he ever made CO. His obituary says he retired from the Navy in 1973.
