<HTML>Hi all,
on 24/7/18 UB-34 made a torpedo attack against a hitherto unidentified "circa 2000-ton freighter" in Tees Bay;
on this same date the XPC HMS Lochiel was lost to an underwater explosion of "undetermined origin" north of Whitby = the vicinity of Tees Bay. Could it be that the sub attacked her & plainly mis-identified the target, as has happened sundry times before & since?
regards, Brian</HTML>
