German submarine "Deutschland"

<HTML>I am just hoping that somebody might be able to help me shed some light on a brass ashtray that has been handed down to me from my grandfather, who served as a Chief Engineer in the British Royal Navy during the first World War.
It is inscribed “Made from Ex German Submarine Deutschland†and “Broken up by Robert Smith & Sons Birkenheadâ€. It also has an image of the submarine beaten into the surface.
I am wondering if anybody might be able to tell me the number of the submarine (which I don’t know) so I can find out a bit more information about it, and how my grandfather had it.
Hoping someone can assist...
