War diaries and log books

Recently someone contacted me regarding the war diary of one of the WW1 u boats. He referred to the log books as opposed to the war diaries(KTB's). To be honest i had been of the opinion that they were one of the same thing, but this appears not to be the case.
Does anyone know if the log books are still around, Have they also been filmed . ets?
