U-57 vs trawlers

According to "The Killing Time" sometime during the 1915-1916 period the U-57 finding itself in the middle of a English fishing fleet one night sent the skipper of an Norweigen steamer, the boat had sunk recently, paddling around to the trawlers in the u-boats dingy ordering the crews to abandon ship without raising the alarm. It worked and the U-57 was able to sink 22 fishing boats!? I can find no record of this many boats being sunk at once. Does anyone know what really happened and how many ships were really sunk and their names, if any? This book is along way from 100% accurate. I think the source for this is Raiders of the Deep.
