<HTML>Darren,

The guns in question would not have been an anti-aircraft weapon. The whole purpose of arming merchant ships was to give them something to fight off submarines using their deck guns to stop and sink merchant ships.

I'd suspect something like a 12 pounder (3 incher), or an old Vickers/Hotchkiss/Nordenfel 3 or 6 pounder.

There's some information on Vickers/Hotchkiss/Nordenfelt 3 and 6 pounders at

best wishes,

Michael</HTML>
