<HTML>Hi,

A while back I posted on the forum about my great-uncle experience in the British Mercantile Marine. The family story goes thus: that the ship he was in got sunk by a uboat, they got picked up couple hours later and then got sunk again, before finally rowing to shore close to Falmouth.

I was initially somewhat spectical, but was told that it could of happened, due to the number of ships sunk and proximity to the coast that many uboats operated.

The best match I'm been able to find occurred 2 Oct 1918

With the SS Bamse and SS Poljames being sunk off the Lizard, both by the
UB 112. There is also a mention that the ship's survivors (not sure which one) rowed to shore at Falmouth.

I've looked at the details of the uboat on the site, but wondered if anyone has any info about the above incident.

Well I'm still not sure my great uncle was involved, I think there might be a good chance.

Any ideas, insight or help would be appreciated.
