<HTML>On the night of August 23-24 a U-Boat sank the S.S. Erik off
the island of St. Pierre near Newfoundland. The U-Boat crew
off loaded all of the Eriks crew before sinking her. The next day the Erik survivors were transferred to a boat the Wally G. (that the U-Boat happened upon). My grandfather who was a survivor of the Somme, Ypres and Gallipoli was on the Erik.
The respecrful and humane treatment they received from the U-Boat crew left a big impression on him. They were young men just like himself.

Anyway, I'm working on a graphic novel about my grandfathers
adventures and was wondering if anyone could identify the U-Boat or know where I might find more information about this U-Boat and crew please e-mail me.

Thank you Everyone!!!!</HTML>
