<HTML>Hi
I am researching confrontations between 'Q' Ships and German U boats from primary sources where these are available. I am currently working upon the apparent sinking of U85 by HMS Privet (Q19) and I have not been able to locate a report in the Public Record Office, London.
Does anyone out there have reliable information on this epic encounter ? German postwar researchers certainly attributed the sinking of U85 to Privet (which sank a short time afterwards because of the damage she had sustatined) To the best of my knowledge no submarine wreck has yet been discovered in the position that is usually given for this encounter.
regards
