I grew up with a legend that two U-boat men had waded ashore 'somewhere on the Yorkshire coast'.
They were lost overboard when UB21 was pounced on by a patrol vessel. The boat dived leaving them in the water.
I managed to find that the boat was UB21 and the skipper was our old friend, Hashagen. I even discovered their names from the PRO. My question is, what was the date ???
Stupidly I failed to write it down...!
