James, have you seen the other side of the story of the sinking of the UB 110? The destroyer commander, Charles Herbert Lightoller, who had another claim to fame, also wrote his memoirs. It's interesting, because Fips describes something very like an atrocity, and Lightoller, if one reads between the lines, sounds uncomfortable with the whole business. He followed up the ramming and sinking of the U-boat with a showy, amazing-- and unnecessary-- feat of seamanship. I like the man, but this wasn't one of his better moments.
