Well, yes I suppose it is possible - but it would mean that the year is wrong (this Hesperus was lost in 1915, a three year difference) - and it was not a trawler, but a small sailing smack .... perhaps Councillor McGinnis has more details?

If it really was this one, then she was in company with another smack, appropriately named 'Fisherman' (just 24 tons),37 miles ENE of Lowestoft when the submarine 'UB-17' closed, ordered the crews into the boats, and then placed explosives onboard to sink them. All the crew made it safely ashore.
