You are most certainly correct, it would have been a bit daft wasting another torpedo on a ship already sinking I just wrote it down the way it was worded, (except for the spelling mistakes) They must not have taken a very good aim for the first torpedo to miss an anchored ship, either Pity about the six poor souls that died too, though.
