Hola Jose
In U35 KTB at this date there is a full page account of an action against an unknown steamer following the halt of a small steamer who hoisted italian flag. In the meantime, another steamer without neither flag nor special marks was halted too. From this second one, boats pulled out from the ship then suddenly, this ship opened fire from abeam to the submarine with guns estimated to be about 120mm. U35 had to crash dive and so she did without being hit while the steamer fled away at high speed, avoiding a torpedo attack. When this steamer who was identified after the war as having been the Citta di Sassari had gone, U35 surfaced again and sank the first steamer (Augusta) which had been previoulsy abandonned by her crew, then the italian sailing vessels Vergine di Pompei and Candida Altieri.
A busy day indeed !
Yves
