thanks for the information about Kew. Years ago I stopped by Kew and visited the records office. At that time I too was working on another topic, and so never even learned of the resource you mention. I am almost tempted to fly over, even with the declining dollar, and spend a couple of days digging through the stuff! :)
On the other hand, I might be able to prevail upon a contact there to look it up for me.
The timing of the event, the information and mis-information available about the loss of Healdton, and the drama surrounding it make for an interesting tale I hope to weave into a forthcoming monograph.
Again, thanks for the lead!
