Yes, no, and maybe. OK, probably.

Yes, there's a matching incident in "Lloyd's War Losses."
No, UB 8 most certainly was not responsible.
Probably the boat responsible was UB 18. However, I don't have the sources to confirm that. It's not in Bendert, but he manages to really mess up the section on UB 18. I don't have Spindler III and only have UB 18's KTB from January 1917 on.

I'm sure that someone who has Spindler III will be along soon enough to confirm that UB 18 was responsible and then Yves or I will add it in.
