Hi,
Many thanks for the info.
My grandfather was apparently not on board the Primula when it got sunk, much to his chagrin! I originally thought that he may have been on shore leave to witness the birth of my father, but that happened later in the year, in August.
Unfortunately he changed his name from Wilfred to William whilst in the navy, for whatever reason, and he has proved difficult to trace.
The only photograph we have of him is with a 'Russian Spy', who is dressed as a Bolshevick, so don't know whose side he was on!
We keep trying to trace him, but so far he has proved to be elusive!
many thanks, once again.
Colin
