Hi Joe,
I can add some details from british archives:
position 42°23'N-10°00'W at 15:50h, 9 crew saved
Nothing more, but even with that information I can't made out an probable candidate.
This loss to me looks more as an case of insurance fraud than an real submarine related loss. Just my 2 cent's :-)
