From what I can find the white peaked cap in WW2, for the Kriegsmarine, was only authorized for wear between 20 April-30 September (Summer). However on a U Boat the only person authorized to wear the white cover year round, was the commander of the U Boat. Wondering if this pertained to WW1 U Boat commanders as well.
