Thanks. The location of this wreck raised an issue that I should have mentioned earlier. It's not where UC 30 was supposed lost (mined) but rather matches (presuming the location per Wiki is correct) a April 22, 1917 British minefield. That would have been an odd but not impossible location for UC 30 to have been mined so it doesn't come as a surprise that it isn't UC 30.

Have done some work with Oliver on the missing British subs. Not sure what G 7 was suppose to be doing when she disappeared (Oliver may know) but G 8's orders were:

"Her last patrol commenced from Tees on 27.12.1917, leaving at 15.00h together with G 12 and destroyer "Medea" for the Kattgat, station being East of Heesele on daytime, North of Lyse LT during the night. She was ordered to start her voyage back on 03.01.18 or possibly 48 hours later, should be back at Tees on 06.01. and was officially declared missing on 14.01.1918."

So the wreck Would not seem a good match for G 8.
