On your first question, U 35 went through Giraltar outbound on the night of October 16/17, 1917. So yes, TB 95 might have attack the U 35 (I haven't seen TB 95's logs or the attack claim). I do have U 35's KTB ob microfilm for that date but it may be a week or two before I can get to the library to see what it says. No other U-boats were in the area at the time.
Oliver probably has already looked at this in detail…
