Thank you Felix C - I have sourced several copies in Germany and hope that Santa Claus is kind at Xmas! I intend brushing up my German but would be happy to read your translation!

Yves Dufeil - this Machrahanish bone still tastes well with this old dog. You put me down quite smartly on 24 November 2013 re this story telling me it was fiction from a book entitled "The Diary of a U-Boat Commander". Would you give me further detail about the book and its author and maybe a reference to the golfing story, please? I would like to buy a copy/own a copy if possible.

Guthmunder - on 24 October 2013 your e-mail to Yves and me suggests you might be interested in the tale and you express surprise about references to other landings on the west coast of Scotland. They are well documented even in this Forum but other references exist.
