WWI Iron Cross 2nd class-two types?

Hello,

I have two kinds of Iron Cross 2nd class. What is the deal? I know that there were several makers and quality changed over time. I don't have a scanner, so I'll describe. They are both the same size(one might be a mm larger), but the length at the end of the arms is longer. This one has a squat looking crown on both sides and is heavier. The other "smaller", lighter kind has a more elongated, clearer crown and the oak leaves on the back also have a different look. They both have magnetic cores, 3 piece construction and no marks and were said to be original on ebay. I have seen both kinds on other sites besides ebay and both are said to be authentic. Any help?
