UB-64 September 15 1918

I am researching the history of the British sailing vessel Mary Fanny that was sunk by shellfire in the Irish Sea by UB-64 on September 15 1918. Some sources claim that the Mary Fanny was fitted with a gun as defence against U boat attack and I have determined from the crew list that 2 of the 5 crew were Royal Navy Reserve members with gun crew training shown on their service record - but I have not yet found confirmation that a gun was fitted to the ship.

I am seeking confirmation that there was an exchange of gunfire between UB-64 and Mary Fanny during this incident which led to the loss of the Mary Fanny and all 5 of her crew. I guess that the only source of such information would be the UB-64 Kriegstagbuch - KTB for 15 September 1918? With reference to the site FAQ’s I will be contacting the USA link for KTB records but I wonder if this USA source only covers WW2 U boat records?

Anyway if anyone can shed some light on this matter I would very much appreciate your help. Many thanks
