There was a convoy action on that date involving gunfire directed at a surfaced German submarine. The submarine did not return fire. It was a scenario where all ships present opened fire on the submarine. I wonder if the gentleman passed from friendly fire or heart attack. The folks at greatwarforum.org may have his service record already and if no, provide leads on where to obtain. This item would provide cause of death.
