the Lusitina was  787 ft (239.9 m) overall  Beam 87.8 Ft {26.9 m] 144 ft (43.9 m) from keel to top of funnels

the  SmU-20 length 64.15 m {210 fr 6 In)  Beam 6.10m {20 Ft} heaight 7.30 m {23 ft 11 in}

Now if things had been a  bit different  and Captain Turner had the time to spot U-20  near the surface....he would of corse obey Admiralty Instructions to ram U-20

The Lusitina hull Her hull plating was typically 22/20” thick, thinning to only 12/20” thick fore and aft (where the frame spacing narrowed), and it was doubled in places up to 2 3/20”.

U-20 was made of Krupp steel one of the strongest materials of all time......

Remeber the RMS Titanic  882ft 6 In [269.1 m] Beam 92 ft 6 In [28.2,m] 175 fr [53.3 m] from keel to funnel

Hull thickness was 1 inch yet she sank because ice casused  '...damage to be astonishingly small - a series of six thin openings across the Titanic's starboard hull. The total area of the damage appears to be about 12 to 13 square feet, or less than the area of two sidewalk squares."

The Lusitina would at the least damaged U-20 or at the most sank U-20...but the question is would the Lusitina have survived famming U-20?

By the way the Adimiraly tried to make Turner a scrapgoat by claiming that he didnt zigzag his ship..

As a matter of fact he did zigzag the Lusitina  but had to stop when it became Foggy....

Also remember Turner had no way of knowing where in the vicinty of any german submarines of his ship {he had no rader which wouldnt have been invented for 20 years]

On ship all he had were lookouts....from shore all he had were radio messages... which errorously gave wrong information as to the location of uboats...lastly he thought that he was going to have a Royal naval escort...[but didnt know there was not going to be a neavl escort] on this voyegue...
