<HTML>My mother spent 4 months in Germany in 1936 visiting parents and siblings and came back and told my father how all the people have become enthralled with the Fuehrer and how nearly ALL the people had become Nazis, but only the various group or area leaders seemed to be party members with special privledges. Parents were afraid of their own children reporting them to authorities if they said they didn\'t believe der F. and his associates. The majority of the population elected the nazis, supported them, and cheered them until things went bad; when the war ended there was an instantaneous self-de-nazification on the part of all except a few. Senator Joe McCarthy had the same effect on Hollywood\'s Commies. My uncle (Dad\'s brother)living in Berlin had disappeared sometime in 1933-34 - he had been a Red Party member. Parallels to U.S. political parties cannot be made; there is no resemblance until after 1946. I\'m proud of my German heritage but it became Americanized in 1927 after my parents fled the political turmoil in Berlin that was set-off by the 1923 hyper-inflation which was also, unfortunately, a major factor in the growth and intensification of anti-semitism. After 1945, we also got anti-Germanism, anti-Japanism, anti-Communism and now anti-Americanism. Who\'s next?
