Hi again,
please correct me if I might be wrong: A romper leaves a convoy to sail ahead independently or possibly together with other rompers.
1. Is a romper only a ship that leaves without permission by the convoy commodore or does this term also include a ship that was explicitly allowed to go ahead i.e. because it was able to steam significantly faster than the rest of the convoy?
2. Are there any statistics about the success rate of romping ships?
3. Are there any known cases in which the romper turned back to rejoin the convoy it had left before?
4. Had the master of a romper to face any consequences by the MOT if he really made it safely to the port?
Thanks.
