luxury subs and sterling engines

<HTML>I noticed that on this link

there is a company selling 'luxury submarines'. Check it out, it is wild!

A king sized bedroom suite with a panoramic 8 foot acrylic window is a hell of a lot nicer than travelling on a Type VII in terms of creature comforts!

The idea is to sell ocean going diesel-electric subs that are like luxury yatchs.

Now, at one point they talk about 'sterling engines' giving long range non-nuclear underwater propulsion. By long range I mean like across the Atlantic submerged.

I got the impression that it was a sterling engine burning diesel fuel and liquid oxygen that is carried on board.

Has anyone heard of this cycle?

It sounds like the techonlogy could have been available in the war.

Did ayone look into using Lox to power a boat underwater?
It sems a lot easier and safer than a peroxide based 'Walther' type system.

Anyone got any background on this propulsion method?</HTML>
