Paul-Hugo Kettner - "Anneberg" sinking

One of today's featured Commanders, Paul-Hugo Kettner, is credited with sinking the Anneberg but which was actually sunk by depth charges from HMCS Battleford. How does one deploy depth charges under a non-moving ship, assuming that no one was on board to pilot her over the depth charges?

Regards,
Gerard
