Hallo and greetings from Cornwall...
I am a bit excited at finding your excellent site uboat.net and look forwar
d to exploring it in some detail.
For some 20 years ( ! ) I have been trying to identify a film I saw as a ch
ild, and which left an indelible impression due to one almost bizarre scene
.
The scene I recall so vividly, involved a submarine (uboat) trapped o
n the bottom and with waiting allies on the surface looking for signs of a
kill.=A0=A0=A0 The uboat captain hits on the idea of firing a sick man thro
ugh the torpedo tubes, and he approaches a man laying in his sick berth, as
king him '' Do you believe in the Fatherland? '' The man nods confirm
ation, and the Captain asks him again. Eventually it dawns on the
man, what is planned and he must have been a superb actor, because he pr
otests in a very realistic and ever frantic way, before being manhandled in
to a tube and being fired up to the surface.
The plan goes wrong when the dying man is cradled at the surface, and spill
s the beans about the goings on below.
Did I imagine this????????
I have checked dozens of ubat films without success.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks
