Rescue operations: Atlantic: Second war.
Date: December 24, 2001 06:03PM

<HTML>Greetings,
I am gathering whatever information I can about combat and subsequent rescue/recovery operations/efforts in the Atlantic/European (Med) theater, in particular I need information and opinion regarding the following incidents.

The aftermath of the allied (fighter) interception over the Med of large flight of Ju 52&#8217;s evacuating N. African Axis infantry, summer 1943.
Seeking survivors and rescuers.

The sinking of the HMT Rhona off of Algeria in late 1943.
Rescuers and survivors. In the Med, Participating He 177 pilots?

Operation Tiger; survivors and rescuers, early 1944, E-boat crew?
English Channel.

Sinking of the SS Leopold, late 1944, English Channel.
Rescuers and survivors.
E-boat crew?

Catalina, PBY or He, FW rescue pilots?
Others?

Any available information or contacts regarding kriegsmarine special forces (K-men).

Also seeking info on U-boats operating in E. Pacific.

I am compiling a file (working on book) with a section regarding sharks and war related sinkings and crashes in the European theater.
In the pacific there is ample anecdotal documentation regarding sharks and related hazards to sailors and aircrew. Granted, though the occurrence was not considered common incidents like that of the USS Indianapolis are well known. Evidence is relatively lacking for the European theater. Cold Atlantic waters are an obvious factor but there are rumors especially from the Mediterranean theater.
Many blocks, black outs and cover-ups persist making independent research difficult.
Any and all info is appreciated.
Thanks you.

Respectfully,
Sean
