1. Cmdr. Richard Compton-Hall, R.N. (Ret.) A family friend writes "It is with the deepest regret that I have to inform you of the death of Commander Richard Compton-Hall (Royal Navy). Richard died peacefully on Wednesday morning (December 12th) at a hospital in Hereford." He was a frequent contributor to The
Submarine Review, has spoken at one of our annual symposiums and had written several books.
2. RAdm. William S. Post, Jr., U.S.N. (Ret.), former skipper of GUDGEON (SS-211) and SPOT (SS-413), died Monday, December 17th from complications following a stroke some time ago. Mike Ostlund reports that many of his crewmembers remember him fondly and states "the Navy lost a great one".
