Thanks for that; following your post, I`ve found the reference to the Laconia, (in fact pages 193-195 in my copy) - but no `chapter` or separate heading, which was what had misled me; I suspect `Kapitel` might mean `section`/`passage` as well as `chapter` ? My (German) copy has all the passage about Eck as well, almost precisely as printed in `Wiedersehen in Hamburg`. So it is indeed there, if not as prominent as expected !

If you`re interested I`ll scan the whole passage and email it to you for comparison with your version.
