I have not got any infomation on U-217's crew, but I have a short info on the boat,
which may help you..?
U-217 was a type VII D U-boat She was built by Germania Werft in Kiel/Germany,
and launch on 15/11/1941. Commissioned on 31/1/1942 and went on to
served with the 5 U-Flottille in Kiel January- July 1942 as a U-boat under training.
She later served with the 9 U-Flottille, Brest/France July- 5/6/1943 as a front boat.
Her Commander was KL Kurt Reichenbach-Klinke January 1942- 5/6/1943.
U-217 did 3 active war patrol during her life and sunk 3 ships. She finally sunk by US naval aircrafts on the 5/6/1943 WSW of the Azores ( 30* 18' N 42* 50' W)
No survivors were ever reported, all 50 crew dead.
