I'm interested in finding anybody who corresponded with Hans Lehmann before his death in 1981.

I'm trying to find information about him in 1945, - how he surrendered to the British (I know the boat ended up in Lissahally) and any details of his subsequent captivity.

Does anyone know of any surviving crew members of U 997?

Also he seems to have been the last U boat commander to be awarded the Knights Cross - does anybody know who recommended him and why?

Any information would be appreciated .
